Did You Get a Spam Text from Yourself?

For the last couple of days, people have been getting strange spam texts that appear to come from their own number. The texts tell you that you’ve got a free gift for paying your bill, but don’t click the link! Many people who have clicked on the included link report that it goes to Channel One Russia, a state TV network, or a number of other Russian news outlets. Clicking spam links are one of the biggest ways that spyware and viruses get into computers and experts say it’s not impossible for hackers to get into mobile phones, so if you get one of these texts….beware and don’t click!
For at least the last two days, @Verizon customers have been getting spammed with texts that are made to appear from our own phones.
This disguised link leads to the live feed of Russian propaganda website “1TV.”
