Demi Lovato, who suffered a terrifying overdose two weeks ago, is finally out of the hospital and in rehab.
According to TMZ, the singer left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. on Saturday. She then took a private plane to one of the nation’s leading rehab facilities, which is outside of California. While it’s unclear how long Lovato will receive treatment, it will be for at least 30 days.
On top of all that, TMZ also reports that her team is working to purge all the negative people out of her life. This means any drug users, crazy partiers, and “yes” friends who put her in harm’s way are out. This also allegedly includes a toxic relative as well as a close friend of Lovato’s. The singer is getting a new phone number that she’s asked to only give to those she trusts.
Celebrity News: Keith Urban Gives Advice To Demi Lovato On Overcoming Addiction
Finally, Demi Lovato herself spoke out about her overdose in an Instagram post yesterday. She wrote:
“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. what I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.
I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. To my fans, I am forever grateful for all of your love and support throughout this past week and beyond. Your positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.
I want to thank my family, my team, and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by my side this entire time. Without them, I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.
I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.
I will keep fighting.”
