Deadpool 2 Sets Opening Day Record

Deadpool 2 didn’t break the opening record for an R-rated movie as expected, but it did set another record.

The superhero sequel earned $125 million over the weekend, just behind the $132 million Deadpool made in 2016. On Friday, it scored $53.3 million, the best opening day for an R-rated comedy sequel movie, according to Forbes. 

After three weeks at number-one, Avengers: Infinity War fell to second with $28.7 million earning $595 million domestically. Globally, it’s earned $1.8 billion, putting it fourth on the all-time list. Book Club opened in a distant third followed by Life of the Party and Breaking In.
