Burr’s Fountain has been an East Sacramento staple for 25 years. Jim Burr opened the restaurant and ice cream shop after working for Vic’s Ice cream as a teenager. He wanted to be his own boss and set up shop on Folsom Blvd where he stayed for a quarter of a century.

But, it looks like it’s the end of the road for Burr’s. Jim told KCRA on Monday that he will be closing and looks forward to spending time with his wife and not working seven days a week. He added that a company with other area locations is interested in buying the building. However, he didn’t say who it was.

While the ice cream shop won’t be open this coming weekend, it probably will be the following. That way, regulars have at least one more chance to get something and say goodbye.
