Today is only Wednesday (May 16th), but here’s a heads-up if you’re planning on heading into downtown Sacramento this weekend. Check all of these events and closures out so you don’t end up stuck in traffic or on a closed road. There are five big events this weekend, and they’re all adding up to a big traffic problem.

Long version short, here are the things happening. Sac State is having their graduation at Golden 1 Friday and Saturday morning, afternoon, and evenings (both days). The Amgen Tour of California is going on, and they’re coming through Sacramento on Saturday as well. THat’ll tie up Tower Bridge pretty much all day. Traffic will be around the COmmunity Center Theater for the performance of “An American in Paris” on Friday and Saturday as well. Memorial Auditorium will be busy Saturday afternoon for another graduation ceremony. And finally, the Convention Center is hosting a volleyball tournament on Saturday.

The most frustrating part about navigating downtown will be from the Amgen Tour with all the closures that will be in place. It’s a lot, but if you’re going to try to go through the city north or south, you’ll probably meet a blockage. Take I5, or 20th St and up. See a map of the closures here. Sac State gave out very specific driving and parking information for parking around Golden 1 Center. The city has also suggested reserving a parking spot if you can, information on that here. See some more info about all the events here.
