Brian Littrell and The Backstreet Boys are sticking by their band mate, Nick Carter, after allegations of sexual abuse came out last year against the singer. Currently, these allegations are under review by the Los Angeles District Attorney.
According to Us Magazine, Littrell believes that Carter is the focus of an attempt to discredit the singer by “fame seekers”. “This has been going on for a long time,” Littrell said. “[Carter] has been forthright and honest with us, and we have to stand beside him. That’s all we can do.”
Regarding what the future has in store for The Backstreet Boys and how these allegations and the resulting verdict will affect the group, Littrell told TMZ: “At the end of the day, we have to assess that bridge when we get there.” “We feel confident in the situation, but it is what it is,” He continued. “It’s the time and the world we live in. Everybody wants to know something or something on somebody.”
Us reports that a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has stated that the allegations against Carter are currently under review. Melissa Schuman came forward with these allegations of sexual assault against Nick Carter last November, in a blog post detailing the instances of abuse.
