A TV anthology series is reportedly being created, based off of Billy Joel’s musical catalog.

According to Rolling Stone, MGM and Universal Music Publishing Group are partnering to develop a scripted anthology series based off Joel’s music. The show will reportedly be called Scenes From an Italian Restaurant, sharing the name with Joel’s 1977 track. The episodes are set to be crafted around Joel’s lyrics, including some of his created characters, like the Stranger, the Piano Man, Mamma Leone and Sgt. O’Leary. Additionally, Joel is reportedly working with his music team to re-work and rearrange his classic songs.

Kevin Fox (Law and Order: SVU) is set to create and executive-produce the anthology, working in tandem with Billy Joel. Joel’s longtime producing partner, Steve Cohen, is also attached. Cohen also helped work on the 2017 documentary Billy Joel: New York State of Mind. In regards to the series, MGM TV’s president of development and production, Steve Stark commented on the show. The anthology series will reportedly focus less on Joel’s life and more on the stories inside his classic songs.
