A broken down and dressed up Volkswagen Beetle in the middle of the Jordan desert has been transformed into the world’s smallest hotel. It only accommodates two guests at a time and goes for about $56 a night.

The car is decorated with hand-embroidered sheets and pillows and was established in 2011 by Mohammed al Malaheem.

Al Malaheem told CNN:

“This village is my homeland, I was born here, I grew up here, I lived here. I wanted to start a project that improves its situation and places it on the tourism map, because it truly overlooks some of the most beautiful scenery in the region.”

The hotel includes many amenities you’d expect from a hotel: a small “lobby” area in a nearby cave where al Malaheem brings guests drinks and snacks, a kiosk to buy souvenirs, and breakfast or lunch, which is prepared by al Malaheem and his family.

Al Malaheem is planning on adding more VW Beetles to allow for more guests in the future.
