A College In Ohio Got A Bacon Vending Machine

Bacon is a favorite of many, and this lucky college campus just got a bacon vending machine in the common area to help students get through testing.

If my college had this in the cafeteria, I probably would have gone to more classes. Ohio State just installed a bacon vending machine. Yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like.

The machine is sponsored by the Ohio Pork Council, of course. They installed it in the college to help promote the pork industry, which apparently is a big thing in Ohio? Who knew. The president-elect of the Ohio Pork Council, Dave Shoup, released this statement – “The Bacon Vending Machine is a unique and fun way for the Ohio Pork Council to support Ohio State students and promote the pork industry at the same time.” That pretty much sums it up, I guess.

The machine will dispense pre-cooked bacon. It sounds like the smell of cooking bacon won’t quite be there, unfortunately. But still, if you’re a student trying to get through finals (happening now), it’s a great quick snack. There are also bacon bits available, so you can add them to salads, donuts, or whatever else you might have. It’s installed through December 13th only, as it seems that’s when final testing is complete and students go on break. Still though – a cool idea, and I’m sure they’ll sell a lot of product. Everything’s a dollar, and proceeds go towards the school’s meat science program. Check out some more information here.
