Three Sacramento area restaurants earned their place in the Michelin 2019 Guide by receiving Michelin Bib Gourmands honors.

Canon, Frank Fat’s and Mother impressed the judges as exceptional restaurants on the Sacramento dining scene.

“It’s a great honor for the community and a testament to the work of our talented chefs and the level of Sacramento’s restaurant scene.” said Mike Testa, president and CEO of Visit Sacramento. “It signals to potential visitors that Sacramento’s restaurants are worth traveling for.”

Michelin annually releases its list of restaurants around the world receiving the highest accolades of one, two or three stars. Unlike the star system, there’s no set formula for Bib Gourmand awards. Therefore, the restaurants are all unique and can vary from one place to the next.

“Contrary to popular belief, the Michelin Guides aren’t all about ‘fine dining’. From luxurious restaurants to village pubs, the Michelin Guides offer something for everyone, in every price bracket,” according the Michelin Guide website

Anonymous Michelin judges rate the restaurants on five criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits.

Michelin releases its California statewide guide, including with Michelin Stars June 3rd.
