Justin Timberlake just dropped the first of four new songs/videos leading up to the release of his first album in five years.
Many people had been speculating that Timberlake may reinvent himself into more of a folk artist after watching the trailer announcing the upcoming ‘Man of the Woods’ album. The trailer showed him frolicking in the forest in a flannel shirt snuggling with his son around a campfire. You can almost smell the pine and smoke.
But the song ‘Filthy’ is far from country. It’s futuristic with an electric-funk feel.. The nearly five-minute video has Timberlake channeling a Steve Jobs-esque character unveiling his newest creation: a dancing robot.
But this is just the first track. There’s still a chance he may slip a little down-home music on the album.
There are three more songs and videos coming – one each week – until the official release of ‘Man of the Woods’ Feb 2.
