Wal-Mart is giving their employees a pay raise to $11/hr AND a 1 time bonus of $1000 to some. However, on the very same day they also abruptly closed a bunch of Sam’s Club stores, including a Sacramento on El Camino Ave.
Without any notice, employees are only finding out when they show up for work.
Sam’s Club did issue the following statement on Twitter:
“After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy. Closing clubs is never easy and we’re committed to working with impacted members and associates through this transition.”

After word got out Sam’s Club told Business Insider that it is closing 63 stores. It’s not know exactly how many employees are losing their jobs. However, if you calculate around 175 people, more than 11,000 could be affected. Some stores were closed immediately, while other will close within weeks.
HERE is a list of stores gathered from media and employee reports.
