A favorite Sacramento restaurant is going to appear on Food Network, and they already have a history of being in the spotlight.

The Food Network show called “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” just featured a Sacramento restaurant. Well, they just recorded the episode; it will air in early October, says restaurant owner Julio Peix. That restaurant is “Dad’s Kitchen,” located down towards Land Park.

You probably know the restaurant, and you also probably know that Guy Fieri spent some time there in the past. Guy talked more about the restaurant in general, looking at a few different items. “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” spent more time talking up the restaurant in general, but “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” will spend more time on one specific burger. On Tuesday when they stopped by to film, they took a look at the bacon-and-bleu-cheese-encrusted burger. Film crews spent a full day in there recording video from different angles, and went through about 8 of the burgers.

My favorite part about filming is the behind-the-scenes stories. The general manager and one of their regular customers were there for the event. They said that they had to eat the food, and “look up, have your eyes light up when the flavor hits your mouth,” says GM Greg Gallagher. They said the room was totally silent, the cameras were in their face, and it was really awkward. As far as the air date of the episode, well, there weren’t specifics. But the restaurant was told “early October,” and did say that they probably will not be hosting a watching party. Check out all the details here.
