Sacramento Music Festival – AKA The Jazz Jubilee – Ends Its 44 Year Run
Even if you never went, it’s still sad to see it go.

The end has finally come for the Sacramento Music Festival, or as many still refer to it, the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee.
Unfortunately the news doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Sad, yes. Surprise, no.
The festival has been filling the streets in Old Sacramento with music every Memorial Day weekend for the past 44 years. But after years of declining attendance, and several attempts to revamp, refresh and rebrand the festival it is obvious that it has run course and it’s time to say farewell.
You have to give the Traditional Jazz Society and “A” for effort. They certainly tried to break through to younger generations by shifting away from Dixieland jazz and bringing in more contemporary artists, but it just wasn’t enough to compete with Napa’s hugely popular Bottlerock Festival also on Memorial Day weekend.
The announcement was made on facebook this morning.
