Last week, Rihanna attended an event in Senegal dedicated to improving global education. The singer used Twitter to ask world leaders for donations prior to the event.

French President Emmanuel Macron also attended the event and said she helped raise $2.3 billion towards the cause. Rihanna has been an ambassador for the Global Partnership For Education for the last two years. According to Dazed & Confused, she said at the GPE Financing Conference in Dakar, Senegal:

“We’ve made tremendous progress today, but of course, our work is never done. We have a long way to go. This is a fight we’re never gonna stop fighting until every boy and every girl has access to education.”

The organization hopes to raise $2 billion in annual funding by 2020.

President Macron shared a photo of himself with the pop star at the conference. He wrote:

“When I commit, I deliver. Rihanna, France will always side with those fighting for a better education.”

This isn’t the first time Rihanna has shown her philanthropic side. In 2012, she created the Clara Lionel Foundation. The organization helps impoverished communities around the world. She received Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year Award last year due to her work with her foundation.
