Yes, feel free to share this with your kids! Print it out and hang it on the fridge! Or email it to your kids for reference!! Nagging your kids is GOOD for them! I mean, we get it right? No one likes to do chores, even as adults we’re not big fans. But, we’ve learned what needs to be done and just do it. Well, in order for your kids to learn that, you’ve got to have them pitch in around the house!

So, instead of avoiding the fights and tantrums over chores and doing things, like taking out the trash, laundry, dishes, etc., parents, you should stand your ground! Why? Well, research has found kids who do chores growing up are MORE SUCCESSFUL adults!  A former dean of freshman at Stanford University says, “By making them do chores — taking out the garbage, doing their own laundry — they realize I have to do the work of life in order to be part of life.” She says if the kids aren’t doing things for themselves, it means someone else is doing stuff for them, which means, “they’re not learning what needs to be done and that each one of us must contribute for the betterment of the whole.” She also says kids who do chores growing up will become better employees.

And, BONUS, you can feel good about piling on the chores! You’re just setting them up for a better future! So pour that glass of wine, put your feet up and have the kids do the dishes. Have them throw that load of laundry in! As long as it’s not your laundry. Because, I mean, you can’t mix loads and bras can’t be dried and that one shirt needs to hang dry…
