Madonna Loses Rights To Stop Auction Of Her Hair And Underwear
Madonna attempted and failed to stop an online auction of some of her personal items including a hairbrush with her hair, worn underwear, and a breakup letter from rapper Tupac.

Madonna attempted and failed to stop an online auction of some of her personal items. It includes a hairbrush with her hair, her worn underwear, and a breakup letter from rapper Tupac.
Madonna wrote in court papers:
“The fact that I have attained celebrity status as a result of success in my career does not obviate my right to maintain my privacy, including with regard to highly personal items. I understand that my DNA could be extracted from a piece of my hair. It is outrageous and grossly offensive that my DNA could be auctioned for sale to the general public.”
According to the Telegraph, the judge ruled in favor of art dealer and main source of the auction items, Darlene Lutz. Madonna and Darlene used to be quite close, but had a nasty falling out later in their relationship.

A ruling in 2004 states that Darlene and Madonna settled all their disputes. That’s ultimately why the judge ruled in the art dealer’s favor. Darlene’s lawyer further said:
“Ms. Lutz is now free to do with her property as she pleases without any continued interference by Madonna.”
It appears that the “Gotta Have Rock And Roll” auction will consequently proceed as intended.
Madonna has yet to respond to the ruling.
