Judge Sends Deputies To Mall After No One Shows Up For Jury Duty

This is nuts. It happened in Winston-Salem North Carolina for jury duty. And, no it’s not because people aren’t feeling the need to fulfill their civic duty.

This is nuts. It happened in Winston-Salem North Carolina for jury duty. And, no it’s not because people aren’t feeling the need to fulfill their civic duty. It’s because the city apparently failed to send out notices to the nearly 1700 prospective jurors it needed.

After no one showed up for jury duty Monday, they made a plea on the local news for volunteers. But, that only netted them 19 people the next day. So, the judge sent deputies to the mall to find volunteers, but found no takers. The judge had to dismissed the jurors who had shown up and they had to postpone some trials until the following week.
