A video that went viral last month, of a Tallahassee Police Officer helping a homeless man named Phil shave for a job interview, has led to the fantastic news that Phil has started his new job at McDonald’s last week. On July 22, a video captured Officer Tony Carlson pulling into a gas station where Phil was having trouble using his razor to shave for an upcoming job interview at McDonald’s. Seeing that Phil might need some help, Officer Carlson walked over to give him a hand, instead of just getting back in his car and leaving. After helping Phil fix his razor, Officer Carlson then helped give him a quick shave there in the parking lot, all while being unaware that they were being filmed.

According to Daily Mail, Phil started his first day at McDonald’s last Friday after looking fresh and cleaned up and fully impressing them in his interview. On Wednesday, officers from the Tallahassee Police Department visited Phil to check up on him. They also presented him with a variety of restaurant gift cards, that had been donated to Phil after seeing the uplifting video of him go viral.

When asked about the moment, Officer Carlson said he was simply doing what he could to help in that situation. “Officers all over the place… our department, the Sheriff’s department, other cities… they’re always doing things like this that don’t get the attention that this just happened to get. It shows the reality of what we actually do,” he explained.
