H&M is taking the heat after featuring a young Black model wearing a hoodie that says, “coolest monkey in the jungle.”
According to NY Daily News, blogger Stephanie Yeboah noticed the picture on the H&M UK page. She then took to social media to post a screenshot which went viral.
Whose idea was it at @hm to have this little sweet black boy wear a jumper that says ‘coolest monkey in the jungle’?
I mean. What. pic.twitter.com/6AJfMdQS4L

H&M has since erased the advert from the website, and the headquarters in Sweden has issued an apology, as well. “We apologise to anyone this may have offended,” they wrote.
The picture made its way to Models for Diversity, a British organization that fights for more inclusion in the fashion industry. They asked how it was possible for the picture to make it past marketing teams.
As a result, a generic photo of the garment replaced the offending one.
