Heroic Sacramento Couple Saves Several Elderly People After Home Catches Fire

A Sacramento couple is being credited with saving the lives of several elderly people after a fire started in their assisted living facility in the Pocket neighborhood Sunday evening. Hector Gutierrez and his girlfriend Sophia Rivas sprang into action after seeing smoke coming from the facility. They were told five people were still inside who couldn’t walk. The couple went inside and were able to rescue several people. Within minutes of rescuing those trapped inside, the fire department was able to put out the fire. A firefighter was injured, but is expected to be OK. The couple is still amazed at what happened and believe it was divine intervention that had them in the right place at the right time.
