The legendary Dolly Parton has won many awards during her life, and she’s now adding world records to her collection!
According to Billboard, the 71-year-old singer will be a part of Guinness World Records 2018 edition with two achievements.
The first is the record for most decades with a Top 20 single on the Hot Country Songs chart. While George Jones came close to the record with five, Parton won him out with six consecutive decades. Her first hit came back in 1967 with “Something Fishy,” and her most recent was a re-recorded version of her classic song “Jolene,” with Pentatonix in 2016.
The other record is most hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart by a female artist, of which she has 107! Her streak began with 1967’s “Dumb Blonde,” and has been going non-stop since. With an insane feat like that, it will probably be a long time before anyone else comes close.
Parton excitedly spoke about the achievements, saying:
“To receive these two Guinness World Records is so great. Joining so many wonderful singers and songwriters who have been honored this way feels so special to me. You never know when you start out with your work how it’s going to turn out, but to have these two world records makes me feel very humbled and blessed.”
She also spoke about where her songwriting skills come from, expressing:
“I’ve always just written from my heart. I try not to dwell on just trying to be commercial and what’s a radio hit. Usually when an idea hits me, it comes from my heart.”
