By now we’ve all had at least one bad experience on a plane. The person who won’t stop talking to you. The armrest hog. The person who won’t stop hitting the back of your seat. And while you’ might have experience some bad odors, likely none this bad!

According to NBC 4 , a Spirit Airlines flight from New York to Fort Lauderdale was forced to make an emergency landing in South Carolina after several passengers complained someone’s foot odor was causing burning in their chests and throats. Once on the ground all 220 passengers had to deplane and as many as 10 passengers had to be taken to the hospital. Hazmat crews searched for the mysterious odor, which passengers described as smelling like “dirty socks,” but were unable to pinpoint the source. Spirit Airlines is still investigating the source of the odor.
