Dancing with the Stars season 26 premiered yesterday with Tonya Harding in tow. It looks like she’s going to have to give it her all, as fans are already vying for her elimination.

Of course, this has to do with her ties to the 1994 attack on Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan. Nancy was clubbed on the knee during practice for the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

It was later discovered that Tonya’s ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, was behind the attack. Shawn Eckardt and his friend Derrick Smith were also identified as the getaway car drivers. Jeff and Shawn later pleaded guilty to racketeering for their involvement.

Tonya claimed she wasn’t involved with the attack and did not know about it. However, she did plead guilty to conspiring to hinder prosecution. She paid a “$160,000 fine and was sentenced to three years’ probation and 500 hours community service,” reports Pop Culture. In addition, she was banned from the U.S. Figure Skating Association for life.

Her story was revisited recently in the Oscar nominated film, I, Tonya.

DWTS fans were quick to jump on Twitter to express their dislike of Tonya on show.

One user wrote: “I am watching because nothing is on and I figure that the Athletes are the best athletes. I hope Tonya is out early, she doesnt get rewarded because she helped do something so despicable.”
