How You Can Help Victims Of The Carr Fire

Fire crews are making progress battling the Carr Fire in Shasta County that has now killed at least six people. As of last night, Cal Fire says the fire has burned more than 95 thousand acres and is 17 percent contained. Thousands of people are still under evacuation orders as firefighters are trying to get the upper hand on the explosive wildfire that has destroyed more than 600 homes and is still threatening nearly five thousand more. Cal Fire says mechanical failure of a vehicle started the fire.

There are several verified GoFundMe campaigns that have been set up for families whose homes were destroyed in the Carr Fire. GoFundMe has also teamed up with Tri Counties Bank to create a general fund for families in Shasta County.

You can donate to the Red Cross who has opened several shelters to house the thousands of people evacuated. To donate, just text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

The United Way of Northern California is also taking donations for its Shasta County Fire Relief Fund. Text CARRFIRE to 91999 to make a donation.

You can donate to the Salvation Army of Northern California whose disaster response teams are in Auburn, Roseville, Eureka, Redding and Santa Rosa. Donate HERE.
