Jeopardy host Alex Trebek is taking medical leave from the show after having surgery to remove blood clots from his brain after taking a fall. 77 year old Trebek recorded a video message on the Jeopardy YouTube channel promising a quick return saying, “Some of you might have heard by now that during the holiday break, I had a slight medical problem.”

Trebek underwent surgery in December after a fall about two months ago which caused blood clots on the brain. Trebek went on to say, “After two days in the hospital, I came home to start recovery… the prognosis is excellent. And I expect to be back in the studio taping more Jeopardy! programs very, very soon.” Trebek is expected to be back to taping in mid-January.
